Candidates interested and eligible for the recruitment must start with the application process, which is started today 15th May 2026 at www.rrbapply.gov.in.
The RRB ALP exam is conducted by the Indian Railways every year. An Assistant Loco Pilot works under the supervision of a Loco Pilot (train driver) and works for the safe and efficient operation of trains. ALP is responsible for watching and calling out signals, monitoring locomotive instruments such as speedometers and pressure gauges, assisting in brake testing before departure, and preparing the engine by checking oil, fuel, and water levels.

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria
10th pass candidates with SSLC /ITI certification falling in the age group of 18 to 30 years are eligible to apply for RRB ALP 2026. Further check the detailed eligibility criteria from here.
Educational Qualification
- Matriculation / SSLC, ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Armature and Coil Winder / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Fitter / Heat Engine / Instrument Mechanic / Machinist / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Millwright Maintenance Mechanic / Mechanic Radio & TV / Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic / Tractor Mechanic / Turner / Wireman
OR - Matriculation / SSLC, Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above
OR - Three-year Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering
OR - A combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of ITI.

RRB ALP 2026 Selection Process
The candidates will be selected as per the RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Selection Process guidelines. Railway Zone and RRB-wise vacancies are released along with the notification pdf. Candidates can choose only one RRB and indicate their preference for the Railway zones. The post-wise selection process with stages has been tabulated below-

Steps to Apply for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026
- Open the browser and visit the official website https://www.rrbapply.gov.in/.
- On the homepage, click on the link that reads “Click here to apply for pay level-2 post of Assistant Loco Pilot” under the CEN-01/2026 (ALP) – Link for application.
- A new page appears on the screen. Click on the Apply button and choose Create an Account.
- For the ‘Create an Account’ form, fill in your basic details, for example, Personal Information, Aadhar Verification, and Contact Details, and create a password. (Password should be a combination of Capital letters, small letters, special characters, and numbers).
- Candidates must log in using a registered mobile number mail ID, and password to complete the application form.
- Candidates must select the RRB for which they wish to apply and select the posts and zones within the chosen RRB.
- Enter other details, including essential educational qualification details. Upload scanned images of their photograph, signature, and SC/ST certificate (if applicable) according to the specifications given in the form.
- Candidates must select the trade for Part B of CBT-2, exercise the order of post preference and complete the declaration.
- After filling in all the necessary fields carefully, applicants can see the preview of their application form. They should go through all the details and click on ‘Final Submission’
- The fee will be paid online through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI Services.
- The confirmation page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment by the candidate.
- Download and take a print copy of the confirmation page of the application form for future reference.
